El Amir serves Lebanese food in Puerto de la Cruz, about twenty-five minutes east of the apartment. Our hosts’ recommendation is short and lands on a specific thing: the baklava is fantastic.
Why it earns a place here
Two reasons beyond the food itself.
The first is variety. Puerto de la Cruz is the one town within easy reach with a genuine spread of international kitchens, and on a longer stay that matters more than it sounds.
The second is vegetarians. Canarian cooking is heavy on fish, rabbit and pork, and a vegetarian guest can run short of options quickly outside Silogía in Garachico. Lebanese mezze — hummus, moutabal, falafel, tabbouleh, stuffed vine leaves — is one of the easiest cuisines to eat well from without meat.
How to order
Share. Lebanese food is built for a table covering itself in small plates rather than a course each, which suits the way people eat here anyway.
And leave room for the baklava. It is the only dessert singled out anywhere in the Welcome Book.
Practicalities
Twenty-five minutes each way along the coast. Park in a town car park. Check the hours before setting off — the rule holds everywhere on this coast, tourist town or not.
